Pear Applesauce

Well, today the apple recipes begin here at Blissful Roots.  I post recipes once a week, and that only gives me three more recipes this month.  It's going to be hard to choose which ones to use.

Actually this recipe, and my one for next week were easy to choose because they're my favorites (as of now)!

Have you ever tried making homemade applesauce?  If not, you need to.  It's so easy, and you really can't mess it up.  The yummy apple flavor with sugar and vanilla- you can't go wrong.  Plus, your house will smell amazing!

I first tried putting pears in applesauce when I tasted my mother-in-law's homemade applesauce several years ago.  The pears add a little extra dimension to the flavor.
After my mother-in-law made this applesauce, I made it for my family, and now my mom makes it often as well.  You can experiment with the types of apples and pears you use, and the apple to pear ratios, but here's what we like.

This really tastes like candy to me.  It's so sweet and delicious!  I have to say my husband and I prefer the chunkier version, but my three young boys like the smooth version.  You can make a batch, blend half, and leave half chunky- then every one's happy.

I've never processed this, but you could.  I have put it in the freezer in a jar, and that's worked well for me.  Maybe a bit runnier than the original mixture, but delicious just the same.

What are your favorite apple recipes?  I'd love to add to my collection!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you found a little something worth your time.
