Take Me Out of the Bathtub

I would say I love this book because I have all boys at my house, but I used it a lot when I taught first grade, and it was popular with all my students (boys and girls). My classroom library copy was always hanging on by a thread at the end of each year.  It was used over and over again!  I had to order a new copy every year.

Alan Katz has done an amazing job of putting fun lyrics to tunes you and your kids already know (click here to take a look at a few).  Take Me Out of the Bathtub is sung to the tune of Take Me Out to the Ballgame.  The songs are totally geared to young kids, and the pictures are so much fun. I love David Catrow!  He's illustrated other books like I Wanna Iguana, Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon, and I Like Myself.

I've memorized a lot of these songs (we read them that often) and use them to sing when I'm trying to get my boys' attention, or to calm them down.  They stop whatever they're doing and listen the second I start singing.  I'm really not much of a singer, but it sure beats yelling to get their attention.

Okay, so the Stinky Stinky Diaper Change (sung to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star) song is a household favorite probably because I do have all boys.  My three-year-old knows all of the words by heart.  They love that one, and Cranky Poodle (sung to Yankee Doodle).  The picture says it all!

BTW, I found the cover image of Take Me Out of the Bathtub over at Sunflower Story Time.  Cute Leah & Mollie have great books on all kinds of topics, and fun activities to go along with them.  Go check them out.
Oh, and there is a sequel to Take Me Out of the Bathtub.  It's called I'm Still Here in the Bathtub.  We own it, and love it too!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you found a little something worth your time.
