Printable Chalkboard Easter Banner {Repost}

Last weekend I went to our storage unit, and pulled out my Easter boxes.  I ran across this banner I made a few years ago for a guest post at Someday Crafts.  Often times, after a few years of the same holiday decor, I get a bit tired of it and want to switch it up a bit.  But this banner, is still a favorite!!  The chalkboard, the lettering, and the beautiful framed design are timeless to me.  I'll be using this one for many years to come!

Decorating With Halloween Cards

I tend to collect cards.  Not necessarily for giving out, but for decorating purposes.  They're a great, inexpensive way to add some holiday flare to your decor.

The three cards here were all from Dollar Tree or Walmart, and cost me $1 or 2/$1.  Such a deal for a great piece of Halloween art!

I usually try to look for cards that are pretty simple in color and design, but look for whatever kind of cards fit your style and taste.  If you can't tell, I love black and orange, so those are the colors I look for in cards.  Cards come in all colors, sizes, and designs, so they are very easy to customize for your decor.

I use the cards to hang for a spooky banner, or put them in frames.  There are really endless possibilities!  Use them however you'd like.

So, next time you're out looking for holiday decor, stroll through the card isle and see what you can find.  Like I said earlier in my post, I collect cards, so I'm on the look-out for them all of the time.  Once you start looking, you'll find your collection will grow quite quickly.  I've been seeing a few Christmas items pop up in stores, so I'll be on the hunt for fun cards to use this December in my decor.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you found a little something worth your time.

Printable Apple Banner

As you've probably noticed, I love everything apple this time of year.  I've been wanting to throw an all apple party for quite some time now.  I'm not sure I'll get around to it this year, but when I do, I'll have my banner already to go.

I used PicMonkey (as always) to design this cute and simple apple banner.  It would be adorable hanging on the front of you all-apple dessert table, wouldn't it?

Free Halloween Garlands from PicMonkey

I love Halloween just as much as the next person (and probably more so), and I don't even decorate for it until October first.  But, if you're wanting to make a few new decorations for the spooky holiday, then now is the perfect time to get going on them.

If you've been here before, then you know I'm in love with PicMonkey!  I love it year round, but their Halloween themes have to be my favorites!  Today's four free garlands are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to their selection of Halloween images you can use.  As always, there are plenty of free items to use on PicMonkey, but you can always pay the Royale fee ($4.99/month or $33/year) and have access to EVERYTHING they offer.

As always, after you've chosen 'Edit' from PicMonkey's home page, and you've chosen what you want to edit (I just used a plain white document to edit I have saved on my desktop), then you'll see this sidebar come up on the left.  Click on the apple icon at the very bottom of the menu.

'School U' will be the first theme you see, but right under that you'll see all the Halloween themes.  Scroll down just a bit to the 'Trick or Treat' theme.

Once you've click on that, you'll see all these great Halloween overlays appear.

Click on 'Grim Garlands' and you'll see all four of these fantastic free garlands appear.  Simply click on the garland you want and then use it as you'd like.  You can change the size, color, and tilt.  Just experiment with them and find what look you're going for.

Here are two printables I created last year using the Grim Garlands.

$1 Dr. Seuss Folder Decor

It's probably because I don't teach any more (although as depressing as it was to see school supplies in the stores in July, getting all set up for a new year as always one of my favorite things to do as a teacher!), but I can't help but get a bit giddy when I see all the notebooks, folders, crayons, pencils, backpacks, etc... hitting the shelves.

I had a doctor's appointment for my pregnancy a few weeks ago, and my husband watched my boys.  And I can't go to Orem by myself without swinging by Target.  Target, all by myself- a happy place!

Anyway, I ran across these darling Dr. Seuss folders for $1 each.  I don't know if it's my boy's school, or just the fact that they're young, but they never really need folders.  I always want to buy them because they have such cute ones, but I've bought them in the past, and they've just sat in their backpacks all year.

So, I decided to buy the Dr. Seuss folders anyway, and use them as decor instead.  This red striped one had the quote on the front, and then Thing 1 and 2 on the back.  I just trimmed off the side of the folder for the front image, and then had to cut the side and bottom off the back image because of the bar code and what not.  But I actually love the two different sizes!

Then here's the other folder I bought.  I did the same thing with it, cut it down, and instantly had two great pieces of decor for my boys' room.

Folders are really quite durable, especially if they're just hanging on a wall.  They're made of thick paper, and always have a nice finish to them.  Great for great looking art!

You can't beat a Dr. Seuss quote!  I love how positive and upbeat they always are.

So, next time you're in the folder isle of your local store, see what you can find to use not only for back to school, but also for decor.  I think you'll be surprised at what you can find for just dollars.

DIY Scrapbook Paper Garland for Boys

Happy Friday!  I'm over with Tanya at twelveOeight today with a super simple garland I made for my boys' room.

DIY Scrapbook Paper Garland for Boys from Blissful Roots

For some reason, it's a lot harder to find cute boy clothes and decor, than it is for girls.  Am I not right, mothers of boys?  I often times end up making decor for my boys' room because I can never find quite what I'm looking for, or I don't want to pay the price of what I actually like.

This garland came together in a matter of minutes and cost me hardly anything!  So, stop by and visit me here for all the supplies and instructions.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you found a little something worth your time.
